I started by asking the BM Metalworks company of Welwyn Garden City, Herts, UK to make me a steel pier on which to mount the Meade 10 inch GPS.
BM Metalworks cut a meter long steel tube from some surplus which they had and afixed a plate with bolts and a corresponding metal plate at the end of the bolts. They did all this for under £60 ($75).
They also made me a collar from the same tubing, with another plate welded to it. The latter is used to rest the 'scope base on, with the Meade's own fixing bolt going through the second plate and collar-plate, into the 'scope base.
I painted Hammerite paint striaght on to the tube, bolts and plate to stop it from rusting.
